Christian Romero’s social media activity causes a stir after loss to Tottenham

Tottenham suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Gunners have been battling an injury crisis and have been without seven first-team players.

Mikel Arteta’s men were expected to struggle to get even a single point, let alone all three.

However, Gabriel’s second-half goal saw the Gunners convincingly beat their rivals.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Christian Romero was unhappy with the result and his social media activity after the match is said to have caused an uproar at the club.

The Argentine defender admitted he was tired and blamed the club’s travel arrangements during the international break.

The defender was unhappy with the club’s travel plans as they did not provide him with a private jet to return early from international duty.

Other clubs often ensure that their players can return quickly after their international commitments by creating a separate transport facility.

The Lilywhites avoid that and Romero believes this could be the reason behind their defeat against their biggest rivals.

Romero shared a post on X from Argentine TV reporter Gaston Edul in which he said the following:

‘Tottenham lost to Arsenal again. They couldn’t fight to the end because they didn’t understand the details.

‘It was the only Premier League club to allow its internationals to return on their own initiative and without the proper logistics, at the discretion of the club’s management.

‘They gave away their advantage because their players arrived less rested than the others: Cuti Romero played tired.’

The defender later deleted the post, but only after fans took screenshots of his social media activity.

It is a worrying result for Spurs and manager Ange Postecoglou, who failed to threaten their rivals, who were left without so many first-team players.

Tottenham players should not use this as an excuse

The message Romero shared on social media after the match is said to be a major source of concern for the club’s management, who may consider arranging private trips for their players to help them stay fit.

However, Spurs or Romero should not use this as an excuse, as their rivals were missing several key players and played with a makeshift midfield. They had bigger problems than Spurs, but still managed to win.
