CHELSEA (4-2-3-1)

Filip Jorgensen – 6

Made his first appearance for Chelsea ahead of a season in which he hopes to become number 1. However, his defence did not help him as Real regularly threatened to score.

Reece James – 5

Against Vinicius Junior, James survived a penalty from behind, but the Real superstar was usually the better player in one-on-one situations.

Benoit Badiashile – 5

They had to chase multiple balls, as Chelsea’s high line was constantly visible, and with a single pass they could put the opponent’s fast players at a distance.

Levi Colwill – 5

Made some significant mistakes, including some laziness in pulling back when Real opened the scoring. Like Badiashile, Colwill was constantly beaten by the odd pass in behind.

Malo Gusto – 6

Chelsea were concerned when he was on the ground twice in pain, but thankfully he was fine. Played Sterling in at the back after a turn, but perfect pass was not rewarded with a goal.

Romeo Lavia – 6

He played in all five of Chelsea’s pre-season friendly matches after barely featuring last season due to injuries, and with each performance he became more composed and a more in-depth playmaker.

Enzo Fernández – 6.5

Cross to the far post for Madueke saw Chelsea pull a goal back when he was given space to receive the ball. Took over the captain’s armband after James was substituted.

Noni Madueke – 7

At one point he was taken off by Antonio Rudiger, who had not understood that it was only a friendly match, and he headed in a cross from Fernandez: 2-1.

Christopher Nkunku – 6.5

The big news is that unlike last summer, Nkunku has come through this tour unscathed, almost levelling the score at 2-2 early in the second half as he was a constant threat.

Raheem Sterling – 5

Had several chances to score, which was good, but didn’t capitalize on any, which was a shame. Overheated pass through the six-yard box found no one. Not his day.

Marc Guiu – 6

He irritated his teammates when he slowed down a move by passing backwards in the first half, but in the second half he began to get more involved in the moves.

COMPONENTS

Mykhailo Mudryk (for Sterling, 58) – 6

He ran across the entire field, but when the decisive moment came, he skied across the field.

Moises Caicedo (for Lavia, 58) – 6

Even in a friendly match he was still steadfast as he sat next to Fernandez after replacing Lavia.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (for Marc Guiu, 66) – 6

Perfect player for Maresca, he knows the system inside out and you can see that on the pitch.

Wesley Fofana (for James, 70) – 6

Replaced James, meaning he played the final 20 minutes at Chelsea’s right-back.

MANAGER

Enzo Maresca – 6

He lost his fifth and final friendly of this tour of the United States, but he is making progress and hopes Chelsea will be ready for the start of the Premier League season.
