Biden DOJ accuses Russia of attempting to interfere in 2024 presidential election

The Biden administration is expected to accuse Russia of orchestrating a sustained effort to influence the 2024 US presidential election by targeting American voters through state media and other online platforms.

Fox News confirmed that Russia-linked entities will be targeted by the Justice Department. A CNN report said that the Kremlin-backed RT TV network is expected to be named by the Justice Department as one of the key players in the covert campaign. Attorney General Merrick Garland is expected to speak on the matter later this afternoon.

When Fox News Digital asked for a response to the allegations, RT said: “We definitely have a response. Actually, we had several, but we couldn’t choose one (we even thought about doing a poll in the office), so here they are.”

“2016 called and wants its clichés back,” was one such comment, as well as: “Three things are certain in life: death, taxes and RT’s interference in the US elections,” “We have to earn our Kremlin salary somehow,” and “Somewhere Secretary Clinton is sad that it’s not her fault.”

In July, FBI Director Christopher Wray told the House Judiciary Committee: “We believe that the Russian government continues to seek to influence and disrupt our democracy and our electoral process in a variety of ways.

“We’ve seen this time and time again in election campaigns,” Wray said.

The move also comes after the Justice Ministry registered RT as a “foreign agent” in 2017.

The agency reported at the time that “T&R Productions, LLC (T&R), a Washington, DC company, was registered… with the Department of Justice under the Foreign Agents Registration Act as an agent for ANO TV-Novosti, the Russian government agency responsible for the global broadcasting of the RT Network (RT).

“Since August 2014, T&R operates studios for RT, employs and pays all U.S.-based RT employees, and produces English-language programming for RT, which is both broadcast on cable networks in the United States and available on RT’s website,” the company said.

Rebekah Koffler, a former Defense Intelligence Agency official, previously told Fox News Digital that RT and other propaganda abroad are part of the ongoing cyberwar Russia is waging against the West.

“They don’t just run propaganda in wartime, during a conflict,” she said in 2022. “They run it in peacetime. They constantly smear the United States and distort foreign policy objectives … I’m just saying that tilts the playing field in Russia’s favor if we allow their propaganda channels to broadcast in an unhindered manner.”

“RT is 100% a Russian government-controlled channel. Its sole purpose is to sensitize the American public, wherever it broadcasts, to the Russian point of view and to present events on the ground as the Russians want the rest of the world to see them. If the United States does not want that, it would be appropriate to close the channel,” Koffler added.
