After 38 years of service, a local golf professional is retiring.

In some news we had here on KWON a month ago: Adams Golf Course Professional Jerry Benedict will be stepping aside this year.

This week, Benedict announced that his last day with the city of Bartlesville will be Friday, August 16.

Benedict has guided the city’s direction since 1986, and Assistant City Manager Laura Sanders said the following upon his retirement:

“For 38 years, Jerry has served Adams Golf Course and the community through his leadership, technical expertise and ability to provide services and products that benefit the golf club and all who use it.”

Benedict was a guest on our City Matters program in May and talked about how much he has enjoyed his career leading Adams.

It will be announced soon who will fulfill this role on an interim basis.

Adams Golf Course will look very different this time next year as they will be completely rebuilding the greens as a major off-season project that the new head professional will oversee.
