Nisha Kumari, an experienced mountaineer who climbed Mount Everest last year, is embarking on yet another adventure – a 15,000-kilometre bike ride from Vadodara to London to create awareness about climate change.

The 28-year-old has started her 180-day trip that would cover 16 countries. Kumari would plant trees in all 200 cities she would visit during her cycling expedition.

Kumari would first arrive in Delhi via Rajasthan and Ahmedabad before leaving for Nepal. From Nepal she would enter China via Tibet. She then traveled through Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Russia before reaching Europe via countries such as Latvia, France and the Czech Republic.

The environmental crusader has expressed her desire to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has sought an appointment with the Prime Minister. “To raise awareness about climate change and with the theme ‘Change Climate Change’, I will be planting trees in more than 200 cities in 16 countries,” Kumari said. She said, “I aim to complete the journey in 133 days and reach London by November 2, or around Diwali, as the day after Diwali is a Gujarati New Year.”

Kumari plans to travel about 80 to 100 km per day. She has a spare car and her coach Nilesh Barot accompanies her on the trip
