Memorable days in Tallanstown

A story from 1974: The houses in Tallanstown’s handsome 20-house scheme, costing more than £80,000, were allocated during the week and the lucky tenants will soon move into their new homes.

The following houses received: James A-Lynch, Roodstown, Ardee; Patrick Reid. Annavackey. Hackballscross; George M. Garland, Reaghstown, Ardee; James Fox, along with Patrick Farrell. 3, Glyde Road, Tallanstown; Eugene D. Nulty, c/o Tallanstown; Kevin McHugh, Blackrock Michael Drumgoole. Knock Abbey, Louth; Peter Myles, Killencoolc, Readypenny; John Sampson, Glydc Farm, Tallanstown; Bernard Finnegan, Monvallet, Louth; Patrick Muckian, Lisrenny, Tallanstown; Dermot Daly, c/o, Tallanstown; Patrick McGahon, c/o Morans, Tallanstown; Patrick J. Kennedy, Rathory, Ardec; Thomas Markey. Rathory, Ardee; Gerard Woods, Knockabbey. Louth; Michael Finlay, Cookstown, Ardee; Kevin Doyle, Christianstown, Readypenny; Bartel Breen. Charlestown, Tallanstown; and Francis Hamill, Stephenstown, Knockbridgc. After being informed that they had been allocated a house, tenants were asked to choose between buying their new home directly through the purchase scheme, or just renting out the houses, through the differential rent scheme.

The differentiated rental system, which relates to the income of the tenant and his family, can be robust enough, and most families are expected to choose the purchase system, thus avoiding the differentiated rental system and investing their money wisely from the ground. start at their home.

When all tenants have made their intentions known to the municipality, lots are drawn from a hat to determine which house a tenant will receive.

It doesn’t really matter as all houses are the same in design, but some may prefer an end house, and the council rightly believes that a tie, a hat, is the best solution for the situation. matter.
