All-Gainesville Area Boys Lacrosse Player of the Year

All-Gainesville Area Boys Lacrosse Player of the Year

Pierce Montes faces pressure every day as the coach’s son and a member of Oak Hall’s vaunted boys lacrosse program. He’s handled it with ease this season.

Pierce Montes has been under pressure all his life.

First, his father is a lacrosse coach.

Second, I played for a program like Oak Hall, the best in the Gainesville area.

Third was making good on last season. In 2022, Montes was in the top 5 in Florida in points and assists.

So the question remained whether the pressure on the Eagles’ juniors would decrease.

Not really.

Montes again ranked in the top six in points and assists, putting OH just one game away from the Class 1A state semifinals.

Today, Montes is the Sun’s All-Gainesville Area Boys Lacrosse Player of the Year.

Earlier in the season, Montes became Oak Hall’s all-time points leader. He has committed to High Point University in North Carolina, but he has one more season left in the burgundy and gold.

Below is the full boys lacrosse team, consisting of 20 athletes from five local schools.

Congratulations to everyone, and don’t forget to check out the girls lacrosse team!

Montes continued the dynasty that is Oak Hall’s boys lacrosse program, nearly taking it to new heights in 2024. The Eagles went 17-4 and won districts. They stormed through the Class 1A-Region 1 quarterfinals and semifinals before suffering a narrow one-goal loss to Bolles. With his son Pierce back next season, expectations on Gainesville’s west side remain high once again.
