Albert Rusnák takes his game to new heights as primary No. 10 for Rave Green

Albert Rusnák has been one of the most prolific attackers in Major League Soccer since the 2-1 win over St. Louis CITY SC on May 25, driving the Seattle Sounders’ 7-1-2 run in all competitions.

The midfielder has scored four goals and added seven assists in his last 11 games as an MLS starter, helping Sounders FC go on a seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

“(He has) game intelligence, spatial awareness and technical ability,” assistant coach Freddy Juarez said. “If you give him time and space, he either creates a chance for someone else with his passing delivery, his vision, or he creates something (of his own).”

Rusnák began his Major League Soccer career as a No. 10. When he joined star-studded team Sounders in 2022, he sacrificed his personal preferences for the team, playing a deeper midfield role in their pursuit of Concacaf Champions League glory.

“He was unselfish… He’s obviously been a 10 for most of his career, he was a very quality 10 when he was at Real Salt Lake, and that’s when we brought him in,” said former Sounders midfielder Kelyn Rowe. “When you have a guy like Albert and Nico (Lodeiro), and also João (Paulo), that’s a great midfield, but who’s going to be the other (defensive) center with João, and Albert raised his hand and said ‘I’ll do it,’ and he did a really good job.”
