WightFibre, the Isle of Wight’s leading broadband provider, is making waves with the rollout of full fibre broadband.

With 70,000 homes passed and over 21,000 satisfied customers already riding the digital wave, WightFibre is transforming the Isle of Wight into a true Gigabit island.

Breaking down the numbers:

  • 30% market share: WightFibre’s penetration soars, capturing a significant share of the island’s broadband market
  • 80% coverage: The company’s fiber optic network covers 80% of all properties on the island, providing high-speed connectivity to both homes and businesses.

Looking forward:

  • 90% coverage by 2025: WightFibre is on track to achieve 90% coverage by the end of 2025, closing the digital divide on the island.
  • 98% coverage by 2027: The provider is committed to every corner of the Isle of Wight, even the hard-to-reach spots. Wightfibre said it is working closely with landlords, local authorities and landowners to secure planning permission and connect those prime properties.
  • £3.1 million in BDUK grants: The BDUK Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme (GBVS) is boosting our progress, with over £3.1 million in vouchers claimed so far.

More than just speed: WightFibre’s PlumeTM Homepass app offers:

  • Smart features: WightFibre customers benefit from app and device priority, advanced parental controls and internet blocking. It’s like having a digital butler at your service.
  • AI-powered security: Keeps your online world safe, blocks unwanted sites and gives you peace of mind.
  • Energy Efficiency: When your Wi-Fi takes a break, power consumption also decreases. Automatic power-saving mode keeps everything green.

John Irvine, CEO of WightFibre, enthuses:

“Our growing customer base and unwavering loyalty speak volumes. We’re not just a supplier; we’re quickly becoming woven into the fabric of the Isle of Wight. WightFibre’s secret sauce? Localness. That’s what sets us apart, allowing us to deliver exceptional service at competitive prices.”

Andy Matthews, Head of Greenfield at Infracapital, added:

“As WightFibre nears completion on the island, we are delighted with the progress being made. This is a real success story and the connectivity will bring social inclusion, employment and many more benefits to communities.”
