2024-2025 Volleyball Schedules Announced – University of Calgary Athletics

CALGARY – The Calgary Dinos volleyball team will open the 2024-2025 regular season on its home court, announced Thursday with the full release of the Canada West schedule by the conference office.

This season will feature a schedule change announced by the conference last October, placing more emphasis on regional rivalries. In both men’s and women’s volleyball, each school has four annual opponents that they will play against each season and rotate through the remaining teams. Men’s teams play six of eight opponents each year, while women’s teams play six of nine opponents each year.

The competition officially begins Oct. 18-19 when Manitoba comes to the Jack Simpson Gym.

In Week 2, the Dinos men travel to Winnipeg, while the women say their goodbyes before heading to Regina for their second weekend of action of the young season.

Calgary doesn’t have to leave the province again until well into the new year and begins a long stretch for a Crowchild Classic weekend at home against Mount Royal on November 8 and 9. After a week off, the Dinos head to Alberta (Nov. 22-23) before wrapping up the first semester with UBC Okanagan (Nov. 29-30).

The first game of 2025 will also take place at The Jack, with Saskatchewan coming to campus for a pair of games from January 10 to 11.

The Dinos close out the upcoming season with three of their final four series on the road, starting January 17-18 with a trip to Abbotsford, BC to take on UFV. Trinity Western comes to Calgary from Jan. 24-25 for its final home games of the regular season before wrapping things up at Brandon (Jan. 31-Feb. 1) and at MacEwan (Feb. 14-15).

This year will also feature a new playoff format, with 10 teams qualifying for the postseason. The playoffs begin with a best-of-three play-in series from February 21-23, with seed #7 hosting seed #10 and seed #8 hosting seed #9. A best-of-three quarter-final will follow from February 28 to March 1, with a ‘Final Four’ format for the semi-finals and bronze/gold matches taking place the following weekend.

All roads lead to the province of Manitoba for this year’s U SPORTS National Championships. The University of Manitoba will host the women’s tournament March 14-16 in Winnipeg, while Brandon University will host the men’s tournament March 21-23.

Dinos season tickets go on sale July 17 at GoDinos.com/Tickets.
