$1.3M Approved for Gentry High School Baseball and Softball Field Upgrades

GENTRY, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — More than $1 million will go toward improving the baseball and softball fields at Gentry High School.

The school board recently approved a $1.3 million bond to pay for the renovation, which will re-grass the entire softball field and the inner portion of the baseball field.

According to Tyler Broyles, Gentry’s executive director, the county and city have seen tremendous growth recently.

“We’re responding to growth by improving our facilities. If we don’t make our facilities and our product, which is education, attractive to our students, they won’t want to stay or come here,” Broyles said.

This project is expected to be completed later this fall.

The school is working on another project to improve the football field and track, which has a price tag of about $3.9 million. The project is expected to be completed in early August.
